ANTI - SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

This has been a very well supported topic with a wide range of views. It is clearly causing a great deal of concern among many respondents and there is undoubtedly a worrying aspect to the high levels of concern expressed particularly from the older generation. It is also surprising to find that so many respondents are prepared to confront ASB directly rather than call the police!

Here are just a few of the responses that we have received.

No. This government neither analyses nor offers any real solutions. It is only into soundbites and gimmicks. Quick fixes to be seen to be doing something. When it wakes up to the fact that proper behaviour starts in the home, that society needs to set a standard in how it raises its kids, then we may achieve something. However, sadly that day has long gone. These days many trouble makers are raised in violent and single parent homes where they have no respect for the police or teachers or their elders. Their lives are run by the peurile ravings in the popular press about footballers and pop stars, dreams of untold wealth and the respect of being someone rather than actually achieving something. These people are the product of a liberal society that allows underage drinking, drug taking, underage sex, children born of several different men, all out of wedlock. A truly morally bankrupt nation.  Female Respondent - South of England

ASB is a growing problem even in small villages such as the one I live in. In my area ASB is caused by 1: lack of things to do for teenagers, 2: in-correct parenting i.e. allowing your children to do the things they do and a lack of control. ASB need more attention focused on the cause not how to deal with it, and I feel very strongly that the cause is parenting.

Male Respondent - Central England

When children have no future or self respect there is nothing else for them to do to express their hopelessness. These children's grandparents are uneducated. The cheapest solution is to enforce a higher standard of English language for all British children at primary stage; this is the quickest solution to mostly all problems of this nature. Because we are made to feel lower than those who have had a decent education, we feel alien to our own homeland; this can only result in violence. there is no hope for those older than 3 years of age; we must start from scratch; sad but true.

Male Respondent - North of England

yes the government does spend too much time and money analysing the causes of A S B . They need to start to name and shame them, A the parents should be fined . And we need more police on the streets, doing what they are paid to do, The law is too soft.   Female Respondent - North of England

Introduce a heirarchy of community service to those offenders who offend regularly.

Male Respondent - Central England
