Graph 2. In order to free-up prison space do you think that prison sentences of less than 18 months should be replaced by alternative penalties. Are you in favour of community service in varying degrees as an alternative?

There is certainly a shortage of prison spaces. So perhaps the lesser offenders should serve a community sentence by keeping our environment clean and tidy. Just Like America!                   Female Respondent - Outside UK

 The government and they alone are responsible for this scandal. As usual the public are left to suffer at large by the fact that people are being released early to free places. It sends out completely the wrong message.      Female Respondent - South of England
