There are many respondents who have expressed very anxious views about the threat of terrorism in this country and the growing doubts about the involvement of troops in Iraq

We have all of us been affected by the threat of terrorism at some stage and it has now become a way of life. Our reliance on British Intelligence is greater than it has ever been before and yet we still expect unwavering protection from our security and policing services without questionning the level of funding, which may not always be available, but which is essential to maintain the very service that we have come to expect!

Male Respondent (ex. security officer) - North of England

It is deplorable that so many of our brave men and women have lost their lives fighting for something that has nothing to do with us. The troops should be withdrawn. Why does every problem in the world have to be our problem. Iraq has to learn to stand on its own feet at some stage. Gordon Brown has apparently bowed down to public pressure and indicated an early withdrawal of some troops from Iraq. Similarly, George Bush has responded likewise but largely because of Democratic pressure and the threat to continued funding of the war. However, could it be that the insurgents in Iraq have been waiting for this moment, by keeping a low profile and then after the withdrawal of American and British troops, return to cause horrendous carnage and re-instate the Saddam Hussein culture?      Male Respondent - South of England
